We know the bible makes it clear that the gospel is not something that we can come to a conclusion on just all by our lonesome. Romans makes it clear that we must share because how will others know if they have not been told. Can you imagine if the disciples had decided to not share? That would have been the end of the gospel. How did I come to know Christ? Well from others(actually lots of people) telling me. This fear that has conquered us in the modern church is quite the opposite of the early church. Check out how these people lived? After much persecution, threats and arrest early on in the book of Acts this is part of the prayer of those men:
“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.” Acts 4:29
As Andy Stanely points out in his “Go Fishing” sermon series this is not the prayer you and I would pray. We would praise God for safety and pray to move onto the next place. These Christ Followers prayed quite the opposite. They didn’t run from the persecution if anything they prayed to go on the offensive more than ever. So how come this doesn’t happen in my own life right now?
This week I am going to address some of the biggest fears for sharing the gospel with some Truth. My desire is not that we are overwhelmed with guilt or feel stupid at the end of the week rather we are empowered by the Truth. So why dont ya share? Leave me a comment and I will try to add it to my list.
