Not really growing up in church when it came to doctrine I had no idea what to do as I began to work in ministry. I honestly had no clue what I believed and then why I believed the few things that I did. The temptation was to align myself with a denomination and simply agree to whatever they agreed with, luckily my girlfriend at the time (Katie) had been a Christian longer than me and was in pursuit of not picking a denomination rather trying to understand the scriptures as accurately as possible. As I began to try to figure out what I believe I was looking for a book with as little bias as possible and a comprehensive collection of scriptures on topics ranging from baptism to end times, inerrancy to the gifts of the spirit. After some research the book I came across was “Systematic Theology” by Wayne Grudem. This book has been one of the greatest tools that I use weekly in preparation for sermons and to answer questions from students. ST still has some bias and Grudem does not try to hide that rather he gives you just about every angle on every verse related to just about any theology question you can think of. I would encourage you as you grow in your faith and want to study different topics of theology that you should not just consider buying ST rather you should order now and start knocking down each of the topics you have always wanted to learn about.
